I have come to the conclusion that religious people talk to God and spiritual people listen.
I just joined a religious forum to meet some new people. I suggested that we learn to listen to God and that he talked to me all the time. One person said he did not believe me. So I posted the following.
God has actually spoken to me audibly three times. The first time he told me to find a new job where I could learn word processing which, in turn, led to my career as a writer. The second time he said: "Everything is going to be all right." That night I got mugged. The third time he said: "I am the son of God. I am not just a prophet. I came to save you. I am real. Serve me."
The rest of the time I just feel what direction to go in. I call it my spiritual intuition. It feels urgent as if I don't dare ignore it. My mind speeds up until I obey the command. Then I make sure it passes the spiritual test. The feeling has to be a loving thing to do and not selfish or vain. If it benefits me it must benefit others at the same time.
My personal belief is that communications from God and Jesus are transmitted to my mind through the Holy Spirit. It has to pass several tests.
1. The instructions must be loving. It is not from God if the feeling tells me to do something mean or cruel.
2. It must not be selfish. If it benefits me it must also benefit others. Writing benefits me because it is fun but my writings are always to help people.
3. The feeling is uplifting. It will make me feel good. If I am judging myself or others I am not listening to the right feeling.
4. It should bear fruit. Whatever is said will lead to something wonderful. A change for the best or some kind of blessing.
Sometimes I am not getting instructions. The Holy Spirits just wans me to know how much God loves me. When this happens it feels like bliss.
The holy spirit is God’s power in action, his active force. God sends out his spirit by projecting his energy to any place to accomplish his will.
