God is spirit and has no gender so I refer to him as God. When I need a male pronoun, I choose the traditional masculine word, "he." Until the 1070's we had no choice. The male pronoun always followed a neutral noun.
The Trinity is a visualization of God in three forms. We do this to explain his different personalities. Personalities are often described in terms of masculine or feminine. Since God is neither, I reserve the right to choose between them as the Bible was written by men who lived in a time when you always chose the male pronoun when you write.
One day, the Holy Spirit appeared to me in female form. She was beautiful and sympathetic to my situation. So I named her Spirit. I believe when God appears he takes the form of Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
I had a hard time dealing with an all male Trinity because God made us in his image, and he made us male and female. I also know personalities who are gender neutral {androgynous) and have both male and female personalities in a rhythmic interplay. This has nothing to do with homosexuality.
So, I concluded that since God has no gender and is spirit, I had permission to use my imagination and I did. I came up with God the Father [male] Jesus the Son [male], and the Holy Spirit who as a comforter is feminine. I don't really associate men with comfort. But that is just me.
Since coming to this conclusion, I have bee banned, shunned and told I was an evil gnostic. This used to bother me until Jeff told me it was ok. Bless his heart. For the first time I can use my imagination to feel the comfort I never got from my mother.
This is story and I am sticking to it . . .
