Most people think what's going on in this country today is about justice. It's not it's about money, property, and control.
Black people first came over to this country as indentured servants. Soon after, they came over as property.
Before the slave trade was outlawed, Southerners worked black men and women to death and then replaced them. After the slave trade was illegal, Southerners tried to convince the slaves they were part of the family (paternalism).
My son said you hate and fear what you can't control. So after the Civil War, controlling black citizens became paramount to the former slaveholders.
First they created the chain gangs and incarcerated black Americans for crimes they did not commit. Then came share cropping, Jim Crow, and taking away the vote. The latest manifestation of control is the police controlling blacks. They do this with violence like the first slaveholders did.
Michael Moore says that white Americans are afraid of its black citizens. We need to be afraid. Not of African-Americans, but of our own salvation.
White Americans today are stained with what their ancestors did. Most of my friends don't believe this. They want to be exempt from what their ancestors did. But as the Bible says, we carry the sins of our fathers for four generations.
My ancestors were Quakers. They were mostly abolitionists who gave their former slaves wages. But this does not let me off the hook.
For the most part, I am leaving all the protesting up to my son Karl. And I'm putting it all in God's hands. I do believe progress happens in small increments. I would change this if I could but it's not up me. I can just do my own little part in my little corner of the world.
Right now I'm focused I'm black people in Africa. I've adopted some orphans from Kenya. And if you want to help me feed them let me know.
