Progressive Christians believe that gay men and women deserve to be treated equally. We frown on promiscuity but support gay marriage and gay families.
Christ made it very clear that we are to love our neighbor. He also pointed out, in the story of the Good Samaritan, that our neighbor may not necessarily live in our neighborhood.
As I mentioned in another thread, progressives are not necessarily advocating new things. We also want to go back to the basics and that is the commandment that we love each other so that others will know we are Christians.
I am not gay, but I was accused of being gay when I told a friend I loved her. I was banned from my church and family. I think it prepared me for this moment when I say let us open our hearts to everyone. Even criminals repent and find the Lord and yet we treat our gay brothers and sisters as pariahs. This has to change.
